It’s all about the retro fever, as Coach follows the lead of Louis Vuitton and Chanel with the collections of retro collections. For all collectors, anniversaries are often the best times to find the finest bags, and to purchase a timeless design. Young or old, handbags will always hold some sort of place in history and in the individual’s life. Have you managed to collect any this year?

Each of the vintage bags presented by Coach has been sourced from all over the United States and carefully restored to its former glory. Part of the collection features Snoopy fabric patches, and the latter was only available at the Parisian concept store colette, in conjunction with the new flagship store for the brand on Rue Saint-Honoré, a must see shopping destination.

Coach, 75 years of success

In the last 75 years, Coach, the original American brand has built its legacy in leather, and in its craft in creating smooth and mellow products. Their reputation has been built on their attention to detail and the high-end quality of each one of their products, which is tested for durability, strength and wear.

How it all started

“The story of our leather is the story of Coach. It began in 1941, when Coach was founded as a small, family-run workshop in a New York City loft. There, six artisans set out with a simple goal: to make beautiful, functional items in modern shapes and the finest leathers. Our innovation in leather started in that loft with a worn baseball glove. Intrigued by its wonderfully soft feel and handsome patina, the founder of Coach was inspired to create a new leather with a buttery hand.

This was our original, nearly indestructible Glove Tanned Cowhide: a remarkable leather as strong as a mitt made to withstand a 90-mile-an-hour pitch, and almost impossible to tear. It was introduced in 1958 with a baseball-shaped swatch urging customers to “Feel It!”—they did, and sales soared. One American icon had inspired another.”

Today’s brand

Today at Coach, you’ll find modern glovetanned leathers as smooth and mellow as the original—you could say we have a soft spot for it. Like the original, they will burnish with use and acquire more character with time.
