Intention set, shoelaces tied & carbs stacked. Go Daniel!

21st April 2017

The Virgin Money London Marathon is only two days away, live coverage will be playing on BBC One from 8:30 am on Sunday 23rd April. Londoners are preparing banners, posters and cheering anthems to support the participants of the event, which not only will be competing against each other and their personal best times, they will most importantly be raising money for their chosen charities. Over the years, the London Marathon has become a ‘must attend’ event for international athletes and has seen the event evolve into the largest mass participation race in the world. 26.2 miles is the distance to be covered, and over 650,000 people are expected to attend and cheer across the different watch points from Blackheath to St James’s Park.

Let’s cheer for Daniel

Team Setsquare is ever so proud to be cheering for Daniel, who has been training extremely hard since last August. Daniel is focused, determined and enthusiastic about this race (and personal challenge) and he is looking forward to crossing the finish line in approximately 4 h 30 mins.

Setting himself a consistent training schedule, whilst adapting his diet to ensure he will be performing to his best potential, is already a challenge of itself. However, Daniel did not push back on work commitments and has been travelling to New York, Spain, Italy just to name a few locations over the months, whilst achieving more than 25 miles, 3 times per week of road training.

His devotion makes us extremely proud, both as a marathon runner and a successful Crew Chief, and that is why we will continue to cheer for him and support him in this race. We have asked Daniel why he has committed to run the London Marathon, and he said:-

I want to achieve a lifetime goal and help as many people as I can who suffer from cancer. My father-in-law passed away last August of cancer and I wanted to make a difference – not just for him, but myself and my own fitness. When I finish, I plan to meet my family and have an amazing afternoon, and hopefully have my first drink in 4 months!”

Raising for Global’s Make Some Noise

Daniel will be raising money for Global’s Make Some Noise, the official charity of Global, the media and entertainment group. Small charities across the UK are supported by 8 of the biggest radio stations in the UK and their listeners, to give a voice and raise much-needed funds to support their vital work. Youngsters and their families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity are at the core centre of these small charities. To support Daniel in his marathon to save future lives from cancer and the Global’s Make Some Noise charity, you can donate via his JustGiving page: http://bit.ly/2oNRE23. Remember, every little helps!

Best of luck from Team Setsquare!
