DESCRIPTION

The Head of Projects has overall responsibility and accountability for the smooth running of projects and people that run through the department. A dynamic personality that strives in leading a team of Project Managers in the delivery of high value projects across the globe. A can-do attitude and focus in wanting to achieve the extra mile for the client with the buy in of the team is at the base of the success of this role.  Working closely with Senior Management and the Directors, the role will be predominantly office based, whilst ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of projects and resources, managing the pipeline that flows through the department and championing communications across the departments.  This role is a key people management role and integral to the success of the business.

 

Main Duties:

  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate Project Team to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills
  • Overall responsibility for the project workflow, ensuring all jobs are delivered on time and within budget and to the clients’ satisfaction to the highest standards. Drive KPIs across all areas of the project function
  • Ownership for the planning and scheduling of projects, resources and staff/freelancers ensuring a manageable workload
  • Ensure that project strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and drive continuous improvement across all related areas of the business, onsite and offsite
  • Quality, documentation and budget controller for all projects being delivered
  • Facilitate communication between management, sales, projects and workshop to ensure the smooth running of the delivery
  • Oversee all enquires that are received
  • Providing accurate reporting to the Director of Projects and the Directors as required

 

Experience

  • Significant experience in managing teams in an operational environment, able to command the respect of your team through effective leadership, performance management, appraisals and on-boarding
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and Clients
  • Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels of the business
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
  • Proven production management experience
  • Experienced with health and safety principals.

 

Competencies

  • Ability to lead, coach and develop a team of Project Managers
  • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and under pressure whilst giving clear direction
  • Computer literate with that ability to grasp new software
  • Hands on approach where necessary
  • Project Management Qualification and Health & Safety Qualifications desired, but not essential.
