Staff Appreciation Day 4: Carpentry & Joinery

16th May 2016

Staff Appreciation Day 4, today we shine the light on our team of Carpenters & Joiners who are in one of the busiest periods of the year, rolling out all of the summer live events, product launches and yes, even the Christmas window displays are already in production!

Who said summer was a quiet period?

The Team

Our team of 10 full-time Carpenters & Joiners, supervised by 4 amazing Crew Chiefs, and all are qualified tradesmen and without doubt, one of the best you could come across. They work with a range of tools and machines, with effective mechanical skills to produce bespoke furniture, structural frames, and the industry’s leading sets, stages and installations.  Our Workshop Manager: Chris McDaid at one time can manage over 30 Carpenters on the workshop floor with a further 20 trusted freelancers. Yes, he is busy! Chris has a very busy task to schedule and run the floor, ensuring coordination, time management and quality standards for all projects being built. Luckily, he has continuous support from our Operations Director, Chris Shepherd, who has been with Setsquare for over 10 years, and with a wealth of experience in the events industry, he leads all operational teams to continuous success and best in class quality standards.

How does it all come together?

The Carpentry Workshop works closely with all of our other services: Draughting, CNC Routing, Paint Workshops, Flight cases, Model Making, Metal Workshop, Covering and Upholstery, Lighting and Automation and Test and Pre- Pre-Build. Furthermore, a continuous liaison is necessary with the Project Managers to ensure a successful production of each one of the projects to ensure the client’s expectations are continuously met, may these be for: luxury product launches, conferences, engineering solutions, live events, hospitality, exhibitions, and more.

Why are they so special to us?

They are definitely talented and the best in town, however, what differentiates them is their cheeky smiles and big hearts. Not only they are always ready to give each other a help in hand, they are constantly involved in charity events to raise money for local and international causes. We are so proud to have them here at Setsquare!
